Malaysia Introduces ePass Renewal Option

Starting from 01 December 2022, Malaysia will roll out a new electronic pass option for renewal applications

Starting from 01 December 2022, Malaysia will roll out a new electronic pass option for renewal applications. Companies registered with the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) can apply for renewals of eligible Employment Pass (EP) and related Dependent Pass (DP) holders via the ePass feature instead of submitting applications manually.

The ePass option via the ESD online system simplifies the renewal process and will be available for applications where the EP remains active and endorsed in the same passport. Sponsoring companies can download the ePass for successfully renewed EPs and related passes through the system.

EP holders who have obtained a new passport but have not completed a transfer of pass endorsement will not be able to apply through the ePass renewal option.

The ePass is also not applicable to any new EP applications as a physical endorsement sticker is still required for initial EPs granted.
