Vietnam: Impending Deadline for the Semi-Annual Report on Foreign Nationals

In our Spotlight on APAC series, we round up the latest developments across the region. In this post, we focus on the approaching due date for the semi-annual report concerning foreign individuals working in Vietnam.

As part of the compliance requirements set by the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA), companies that sponsor foreign individuals employed in Vietnam are required to submit the semi-annual report by 05 July 2025. This requirement helps track the stay and employment status of foreign workers in the country. The reports will be reviewed initially by DOHA and subsequently by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA).

The reporting period covers 15 December 2024 to 14 June 2025. Exemptions may apply to individuals whose work permit applications are not finalized by the deadline.

MOHA is currently considering adjustments to the frequency of report submissions, as the government explores potential changes in line with administrative capacity and policy direction.
