Philippines’ Visa-Free Entry for Chinese nationals

In our spotlight on the APAC series, we round up the latest developments across the Asia Pacific Region. In this edition, we focus on the recent updates to the Philippines’ Visa-Free Entry for Chinese nationals, effective 16 January 2026.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has implemented a visa-free entry policy for Chinese nationals travelling to the Philippines for tourism and business purposes, for stays up to 14 days. This programme allows a non-extendable 14-day stay, which is non-convertible to any type of Philippine visa category.

The visa-free entry is limited to arrival through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Metro Manila and the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) in Cebu. Eligible Chinese nationals are only required to present a passport valid for 6 months beyond the intended stay, confirmed hotel accommodation/booking, and a return or onward ticket to the next country of destination upon arrival. Standard security and background checks continue to apply to ensure that security and public order are maintained while facilitating the entry of legitimate travellers.

The visa-free entry arrangement will be in effect for one year and will be reviewed accordingly prior to its expiry.
