In our spotlight on APAC series, we round up the latest developments across the Asia Pacific Region.
Effective August 20, 2026, nationals of Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam will be eligible for the 240-hour visa-free transit policy and the 30-day visa-free entry policy for Hainan, making travel to China more convenient.
Nationals of Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam holding ordinary passports and interline passenger tickets with a confirmed date and itinerary to a third country/region may enter China visa-free through any of the 65 open ports of entry, including Beijing and Shanghai, and stay in the designated areas for up to 240-hours. Nationals of the two countries may enter Hainan Province through its open ports of entry and stay for up to 30 days.
Under the two visa-free policy, eligible travellers may engage in tourism, business, visits and family visits. Activities requiring prior approval, such as work, study and news reporting, still require the appropriate visa.
A National Immigraton Administration (NIA) official stated that the visa-free expansion will strengthen mutual trust and cooperation between China and the two countries, while facilitating tourism, business, trade, visits and investment more convenient and efficient. Going forward, the NIA will balance development and security, maintain immigration administration, and promote international exchanges and cooperation.
