Migration Advisory Committee to report on Permanent Limits for Tiers 1 and 2

November 2010

As reported previously, on 28 June 2010, the Government launched a public consultation focusing on how limits to economic migration by nationals of countries outside the European Union, through Tiers 1 and 2 of the Points-Based System, should be implemented.

Between June and September 2010, the Migration Advisory Committee (the “MAC”) carried out a parallel consultation concerning the levels at which prospective limits should be set for the first full year of operation. The MAC particularly requested that contributors consider the economic, social and public service impacts of migration when submitting evidence.

On 18 November 2010 the MAC will publish its findings.

We will update you immediately as the Report is published, with further commentary from our British American Business Immigration Conference being held later that day.
